ARTICLE I

 

PURPOSE

 

Section A   To Provide a recreational opportunity for the children in the Fairless Local School District which would include Bethlehem Township, Navarre, Brewster, Beach City or Wilmot        (* see exception below). To promote the fundamentals of baseball or softball based on the principles of sportsmanship, discipline and team building and to encourage each youth to develop his/her athletic talents and to play to the best of his/her ability for the benefit of the individual and the team.

 

*Exception:  Youth residing outside of the Fairless Local School District may participate in the NBSA by providing an approved player release from their hometown baseball/softball association.

 

ARTICLE II

 

ORGANIZATION


SECTION A 
This organization shall be known as the Navarre Baseball / Softball Association.  Hereafter, abbreviated as NBSA.

SECTION B  The NBSA shall operate as a non-profit organization.  Any income received shall be applied only to the non-profit purposes and objectives of the organization, and no part of the income is to benefit any officer or member.

SECTION C 
The boundaries are the same as those known as the Fairless Local School District .  This includes any child residing in Navarre , Brewster, Beach City and Wilmot, or any other area in the Fairless School District .

SECTION D 
The NBSA shall not discriminate against any individual on the basis of age, race, creed, color, sex, handicap, marital status or national origin.

SECTION E 
 All officers and team managers (head coaches) are considered to be members of NBSA and each shall have one vote when a vote of the membership is taken.  An assistant coach may substitute for the manager with the same voting privileges, if a manager of the same team cannot attend a meeting of NBSA .

SECTION F 
When a vote of the membership is taken, each team and each officer shall be allotted one vote.  In the case where an officer of NBSA is also a team manager, one vote shall be allotted to him/her.  The President will only vote when his/her vote is needed to break a tie.

SECTION G  For the purpose of conducting the business of NBSA, members shall apply these By-laws in determining actions to be taken by the association.  Any actions or activities conducted by members that are not in conformance with the By-laws of NBSA will be considered non-NBSA sanctioned.
1. When actions or activities are neither specifically addressed nor coincides with the spirit of the By-laws, a vote of the membership will decide said actions or activities permitted prior to their commencement.

SECTION H  No team manager, coach or assistant coach may conduct formal or informal team activities prior to the effective date or after the expiration date of the association's sports accident and league liability insurance policy.  (The current policy is effective year round.)
